There are so many stories of how Dim Sum started, but our favorite is that small servings of food appeared at tea houses alongside main roads in China, frequented by many travelers. Some even say Dim Sum was served along The Silk Road, connecting China with Middle Eastern and European cultures.

These small morsels of food, often in the form of various fillings wrapped in dough, were paired with tea to energize weary travelers eager to get back on their journey, “touching/dotting” their hearts. Nowadays, Dim Sum has grown into a boisterous brunch tradition for families and friends of Chinese ancestry internationally, filled with laughter, push carts and empty steamers stacked high on the tables.

Today at And Dim Sum, we tip our hat to the ancient Chinese practice of hospitality offering small plates of food paired with tea (and ahem, cocktails, too!) with care and love. Whether this is your first time discovering a steam basket filled with tasty dumplings or your 500th, we hope we touch your heart with our modern interpretations of Dim Sum to inspire you to explore and seek out more traditional Dim Sum experiences as well.

Thanks for visiting and happy travels,

And Dim Sum
